Ivanka: On childcare, my father is doing what Hillary hasn’t

Ivanka Trump told Fox News Tuesday evening her father’s campaign saw a chance to take an issue Hillary Clinton has failed to own and provide a conservative solution for millions of working parents weighed down by the cost of childcare, even if the policy is one Republicans have historically shied away from.

“There’s no policy on Hillary Clinton’s website pertaining to any of these issues of childcare, elder care or maternity leave or paternity leave for that matter,” Trump told Kelly following the Pennsylvania speech. “It’s an issue that’s talked about on the stump because we recognize that it is affecting so many American families … yet there’s no policy that’s been articulated on how to solve the problem.”

Donald Trump addressed child care in a policy speech earlier Tuesday. Although the issue has been a part of Democrats’ talking points for years, it’s one that presidential rival Hillary Clinton has not discussed much on the campaign trial this year.

The lack of follow through from congressional Democrats and the party’s nominee gave the Republican nominee the perfect opportunity to court women and woo voters who spend thousands annually on child care costs, Trump explained.

The GOP nominee’s plan will not raise taxes that employers currently pay on each employee. Instead, the plan will be covered through existing unemployment insurance, as well as by savings after cutting billions in fraud and waste in the program. Trump is expected to reveal his full comprehensive tax reform on Thursday.
