Police forces in Virginia and Maryland are joining efforts to catch the man they same has robbed 11 area bank robberies in the past year.

The armed robber has been linked to eight robberies Montgomery County, two in Alexandria, and one in Arlington, according to police and the FBI.
The most recent robbery occurred on July 21 at a SunTrust Bank on Falls Road in Montgomery County. The robber wore sunglasses and a mask, but police said they have been able to link him to 10 other robberies.

The first occurred on July 2, 2010 at a Sovereign Bank in Olney. Last fall, he hit four more Maryland banks. In December, the robber started targeting Virginia banks. He held up a BB&T bank in Arlington on Dec. 14 and robbed two more in Alexandria on Dec. 20 and Dec. 27.
Three banks ?– a Sovereign branch in Olney, an M&T in White Oak and a SunTrust in Potomac — have been hit twice.
The robber is described as a black man wearing dark clothing.
Montgomery County Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for anyone with information that leads to the arrest of the robber.
