Jimmy Fallon late Sunday night rejected the idea that he was too soft on Donald Trump in his interview that aired last week, and reminded people he hosts a comedy show.
“Have you seen my show?” he said in response to a TMZ question after the Emmy Awards. “I’m never too hard on anyone.”
Trump appeared on “The Tonight Show” last Thursday, and shocked viewers when he allowed Fallon to mess up his hair. Fallon said he was not planning on touching the Republican nominee’s hair “until two minutes before we did it.”
“It’s like an Easter basket, that grass you just have in the Easter basket that keeps coming out,” he told TMZ. “It’s a fascinating texture. It wasn’t that bizarre.”
The comedian said Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton will be on his show this week and he will “do something fun with her too.”
The interviewer also asked Fallon which candidate he believes is best-equipped to defend New York City, which was still reeling from a bombing Saturday night that left 29 people injured.
“Just get out there and vote,” Fallon responded. “Register and vote, vote, vote.”
