Home invasions rattle Maryland neighborhoods

A series of home invasions in suburban Maryland over the past week has put residents on edge and violated their sense of home as a safe haven.

A break-in by an armed man in Bethesda on Wednesday resulted in three people being bound by an armed man. A housekeeper was sexually assaulted.

Police believe the gunman was also responsible for an attack Tuesday in which a woman was robbed in the garage of her Wheaton home.

A Fort Washington man, 33-year-old Kevin Ray, was taken into custody Saturday in North Carolina, police said. He is being charged in both cases.

Authorities are investigating whether those home invasions are linked to a Friday morning armed break-in and sexual assault in Temple Hills, said Cpl. Mike Rodriguez, a Prince George’s County police spokesman.
