Ever since Sessions recused himself last year from the ongoing investigation into Russian election meddling, rumors have circulated that President Trump would push him out or that he would resign on his own volition.
Trump has had moments where he said he would not fire Sessions, but at other times would not indicate whether or not he would ask the attorney general to leave his post.
The president has indicated that he would not have picked Sessions to head up the Department of Justice if he knew he would recuse himself from the investigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential election.
