Two students at the University of New Hampshire are being threatened with expulsion for counter protesting an anti-Trump rally while wearing Harambe and Richard Nixon costumes.
As reported by Campus Reform, Courtney Marshall, a former UNH professor, spotted the two students at the rally and posted this to Facebook.
The rally was started by the UNH College Democrats and endorsed by two professors from the Women’s Studies Program, which was dubbed as an anti-Trump protest.
Several UNH professors were so triggered by the counter protesters that Robin Hackett, an associate professor of English and faculty member of the Women’s Studies Program, commented on the photo by calling for an investigation and expulsion of the two students
That wasn’t enough. Siobhan Senier, another English professor and member of the Women’s Studies Program, drafted a letter on Facebook to UNH President Mark Huddleston and Provost Nancy Targett. Senier called the student in the Harambe costume ‘harassing, intimidating, and racist’ and said a ‘conversation is in order’ for both of them.
Molly Campbell, an English lecturer, was particularly offended by the student, who was wearing the Nixon mask, throwing baby pacifiers at the anti-Trump protesters.
Another English professor, Larry Beemer, comes to the hilarious conclusion when he’s told by his 10-year old son that the two students were playing off the popular internet meme “Dicks out for Harambe.” In this case, Richard Nixon is “Dick.”
It seems like professors are more triggered than the students they teach nowadays. Guess we can confirm the actual source of this politically insular mentality.
