HBO late night host Bill Maher invited foe President-elect Trump on his show Friday night, just three days after the Republican beat Hillary Clinton in the race for the White House.
“I want to take this opportunity right now to invite him on this show. … He won. He ran a vicious, vulgar campaign and I gave it back exactly in measure,” the political comedian said. “I was also vicious and vulgar but he won and he did it his way. Nobody gets to sing that song more than Donald Trump.”
Maher also joked that it took nearly eight years to get President Obama on the show. Maher has been a vocal supporter of Obama’s policies as a fellow progressive and had been critical of Trump’s campaign over the past year.
Trump has yet to respond to Maher’s request.
