‘Apprentice’ winner credits Trump for success

The first contestant from “The Apprentice” hired by Donald Trump on Friday credited the presidential candidate for the success he has had since winning the show.

Bill Rancic was in Washington, D.C., Friday at a media preview of the RPM Italian DC restaurant he and his wife, Giuliana, are opening. In an interview with the Washington Examiner, the 2004 reality TV star said he is grateful for the experience he had working for the New York businessman.

“It was very positive,” Rancic said about his experiences working with Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee. “He certainly changed my life. I’d say if it wasn’t for that experience, I wouldn’t have met my wife ’cause she wound up interviewing me after that — wouldn’t have gotten my son, Duke.”

The 2004 champion of the show worked at Trump Tower Chicago for three years, the longest of any “Apprentice” hires. Rancic said Trump was the same person as a boss and mentor that he is today.

The Rancics held a private lunch for the media on Friday at the East Coast branch of Chicago’s RPM Italian. The Mount Vernon Square restaurant is scheduled to open later this month.
