ONONDAGA NATION, N.Y. (AP) — Two young brothers, their sister and father have been attacked by two bulldogs that were then shot to death by officers in central New York.

Onondaga County sheriff’s deputies say one of the 90-pound American bulldogs approached the brothers aged 4 and 10 playing in a yard Thursday on Onondaga Nation territory. The dog, which lived at the residence, attacked the 10-year-old as he helped his brother off the ground. The second dog attacked the 4-year-old.

The boys’ 18-year-old sister was bitten on the neck after she jumped in to help. The father was bitten as he kicked the dogs away.

Deputies killed one dog as the animals approached them. The other was shot and killed by tribal officers.

The unidentified 4-year-old was undergoing surgery for bites to his chest.
