Georgia firebrand Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has just declared herself a top leader of half of the Republican Party.
Upon winning back her right to sit on House committees and being named to two, the most prominent House ally of former President Donald Trump tweeted that she’s ready to end President Joe Biden’s agenda and maybe pave the way for Trump’s return.

“As the leading MAGA voice in Congress, I look forward to committees,” she said.
Thanks to @SpeakerMcCarthy & Steering for voting me on the committees I requested on the submission form most of us filled out.
Too bad we’re weeks behind after you spent a week only getting MTV from 5 to 1.

That is potentially a big group to lead. In a new Economist/YouGov survey out today, 46% of Republicans polled said that they “identify as a MAGA Republican.” Another 41% said they do not align with the Trump-based “Make America Great Again” wing of the GOP, and 13% didn’t know.
Other polling also shows that Trump continues to be considered the leader of the party, helping to sustain the MAGA wing.

Of all House Republicans, Greene has been the one most seen with Trump in his post-presidency. She is a regular speaker at his rallies and often attends the former president’s events.
There has even been speculation that Greene is on Trump’s short list for vice president should he win the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. He is the only major declared candidate for president.
Greene said she is eager to begin work on her two committees — Oversight and Accountability Committee and Homeland Security Committee — once the final approval vote comes by the full GOP conference.
