ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Anaheim police have shot and killed a robbery suspect in a shootout after the man holed up inside a sport utility vehicle.

Police were called to Fry’s Electronics around 2 p.m. Friday by a report that two men had robbed the store at gunpoint.

Lt. Bob Dunn says the men drove off in an SUV that crashed into a pickup truck about a half mile away.

The men ran off.

A California Highway Patrol officer in the area took one man into custody but Dunn says the other ran to an auto auction lot and climbed into a BMW SUV.

Dunn says police tried to negotiate with the man for about an hour but he was found dead after a gun battle with SWAT officers.

His name hasn’t been released.
