Wireless firm reports first-quarter revenue growth

Telecommunication Systems Inc., an Annapolis-based wireless communications provider, announced it experienced a 8 percent growth in revenue from continued operations for the first quarter of 2007.

Compared with the opening period of 2006, revenue grew from $31.7 million to $34.1 million this year. Revenue also increased when compared against the last quarter, spiking 12 percent.

“The first quarter is a solid start towards meeting or beating our objectives for 2007,” Maurice B. Tose, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Telecommunications said in a statement. “We have also been aggressively positioning our company for substantially increased volume of satellite-based solution sales through the Worldwide Satellite Systems vehicle and other government procurement channels.”

The company also experienced a 150 percent increase in registered users of its text messaging web portal, up to 25 million subscribers.
