Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry said Thursday morning that he did not approve of the controversial questionnaire that President-elect Trump’s transition team sent to the Energy Department.
“That questionnaire … went out before I was ever selected as the nominee to sit before this committee,” Trump’s pick to run the Energy Department told Sen. Maria Cantwell of Washington, the top Democrat on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
“I didn’t approve it, I don’t approve of it. I don’t need that information. I don’t want that information. It is not how I manage,” Perry said.
The 74-question list, which the Trump team disavowed, asked for information including the names of employees who had attended international meetings about climate change. It raised the ire of Democrats, who called it political “witch hunt.”
