On Saturday, Zeglinski and Virginia (12-10, 3-5) play at Miami (12-9, 1-6), which had lost four straight before Thursday night. After Wednesday’s 80-62 loss to Duke, Maryland (14-8, 4-4) has nine games left to prove it deserves an NCAA berth. Only three will be against teams with better records (FSU, at UNC, at Va. Tech). In a combined 38 minutes against Duke, freshmen Terrell Stoglin and Pe’Shon Howard produced just two points. Last month, Maryland rolled Wake Forest (8-14, 1-6), 74-55.

In an 84-59 loss at A-10 leader Duquesne, the difference was turnovers. GW committed 25 while forcing nine against the nation’s leader in assist-turnover ratio despite Tony Taylor’s excellent night (21 points, one turnover). GW (11-11, 4-4) looks to protect the ball better at Charlotte (10-12, 2-6), led by former DeMatha standout Chris Braswell (10.6 ppg, 7.1 rpg) and 6-foot-6, 245-pound F Shamari Spears (17 ppg).

Navy (8-15, 3-4) faces perhaps its toughest conference test at Patriot League leader Bucknell (15-8, 6-1), led by 6-10 sophomore Mike Muscala (15.7 ppg, 7.0 rpg) and defensive standout Bryan Cohen (7.1 ppg, 4.2 rpg). The Mids counter with 6-7 J.J. Avila (11.7 ppg, 5.3 rpg), recently named national mid-major freshman of the week by RushTheCourt.net.

After 13 straight losses in the MEAC, Howard (4-13, 2-7) has won two straight, outrebounding foes 60-41 and shooting 50 percent from the floor and 52 percent from 3-point range behind F Dadrian Collins (32 points, 16 rebounds) and F Mike Phillips (30 points, 17 rebounds). N.C. Central (10-10), led by senior C.J. Wilkerson (19.6 ppg), has a 5-3 record against MEAC teams.
