Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough offered a scathing rebuke of many of the 2020 Democratic presidential candidates for their policy proposals and said that they are giving President Trump his “only chance” to win reelection.
The panel was discussing a number of policies that some presidential candidates have publicly supported, expressing their fear that the stances the candidates are taking could end up helping the president.
“How does it get better for Donald Trump? Well, you have Democrats getting worse. You have Democrats saying, ‘You know what we’re going to do? We’re going to decriminalize crossing the border illegally,'” Scarborough stated. “‘We’re going to take away health insurance from 160 million Americans. You know what we’re going to do? We’re going to give healthcare coverage to people who cross the border illegally.'”
Mika Brzezinski quipped, “Everything is free.”
“‘We’re going to forgive all student debt.’ Let me continue because they’re saying all of these things. ‘You know what we’re going to do?’ Bernie said it this past week. ‘We’re going to forgive all medical debt,'” Scarborough, a former GOP congressman, said. “You keep stacking that up and you get more people in the suburbs, more swing voters going, ‘Wait a second.'”
“He can call them socialists, that’s it. That’s it,” Donny Deutsch added.
Scarborough concluded, “By the way, listen, I’ve said it. I want Donald Trump to get beaten. I don’t — I will vote for anybody that will beat Donald Trump, but the Democrats moving in that direction give Donald Trump his only chance.”
