Snyder: All we want is an apology

Redskins owner Dan Snyder said all he wants from his defamation lawsuit against the Washington City Paper is an apology.

Snyder, who filed the suit Wednesday night against Atalaya Capital Management, which runs the City Paper, reiterated his belief that a drawing depicting him as the devil was anti-Semitic.

“They’ve been doing this since the Nazis and before,” Snyder told ESPN 980. “What’s right is right and what’s wrong is wrong….It’s not nice and not appropriate to make fun of someone.”

He also said the suit was the idea of senior vice president Tony Wyllie, who said the other day, “Enough’s enough.”

“I’m not a litigious peson,” Snyder said. “The fans, most important, know I want to win. My heart is in the right place…. Criticism hurts. But I understand what the role of the media is, too.

“I respect the media, I believe in the media’s right to do whatever they want, but don’t lie.”

Snyder, speaking on 106.7 The Fan, defended having a team named after the Redskins, which has prompted lawsuits by native Americans, while claiming anti-Semitism about the picture. Snyder said the Redskins name has stood for “victory” and “fighting for old D.C.”.
