White House press secretary Sarah Sanders is holding a press briefing with reporters.
The briefing comes the same day as a delay in sentencing for President Trump’s former national security adviser, Michael Flynn. A federal district judge pushed off until March sentencing for Flynn, as he continues to cooperate with special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
Flynn has pleaded guilty to lying to federal authorities about contact he had with Russian agents during Trump’s transition period into the presidency.
Flynn is the latest in a string of former Trump associates who have pleaded guilty to crimes ranging from lying to Congress to tax fraud. Last week, Michael Cohen, Trump’s former attorney, was sentenced to serve three years in federal prison related to hush money payments for women with whom the president had affairs.
The Trump administration also continues to negotiate with congressional Democrats over funding for the president’s promised wall along the southern border with Mexico.
