Tiger slams authenticity of clubs on eBay

The clubs on eBay were billed as having been used by Tiger Woods during his Tiger Slam in 2000-01. And, for a mere $250,000, they could be yours.

But it turns out there was one minor problem. They weren’t authentic. It’s no surprise that the clubs eventually came down off eBay.

“He may have my set of irons,” Woods said at a news conference for the Players Championship, “but they are not from those tournaments. The sets I won all four major championships with are in my garage.”

A reporter seemed surprised Woods still had the clubs.

“What do you think?”

The Titleist clubs were placed up for sale Sunday night. The clubs were “given personally as a gift from Tiger to the seller” it said on the listing. Turns out that was a little bit of a stretch. Sort of brings down the value if, you know, he didn’t actually use them the way it was billed.
