Fort Worth officer fired in sex assault case

FORT WORTH, Texas — A North Texas police officer accused of sexually assaulting a prostitute, official oppression and theft has been fired.

Fort Worth police Chief Jeffrey Halstead in October announced charges against Officer Douglas Campbell, who was put on leave. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports Civil Service documents obtained Monday show Campbell was indefinitely suspended Dec. 23.
