VIDEO: Senate banking committee explores not raising debt ceiling — Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I., warned that failure to raise the debt ceiling could result in "a financial chain reaction" with "unknown and perhaps catastrophic consequences."

The Senate banking committee came together Thursday to discuss the potential effects of not raising the debt ceiling by the Oct.17 deadline.
