Sanctuary cities release thousands of criminals

“Sanctuary” city governments apparently have not learned anything from the death of Kate Steinle.

The Center for Immigration Studies reported that since July, 41 localities have declared themselves “sanctuaries” for illegal immigrants, mandating police to ignore federal immigration laws and Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainers.

Jails in those jurisdictions will now release an estimated 1,000 criminal aliens every single month–totaling a whopping 9,295 illegal aliens with criminal records that ICE was actively seeking to deport.

“They’re all deportable, and even more significantly, ICE was trying to deport them after it found out that they had been arrested for something in the community where they’d been living,” said the report’s author Jessica Vaughan on The Laura Ingraham Show Monday.

Federal agents have been able to capture nearly a third of the illegals released from prison, but warns that as of last year, 6,460 were still at large.

More than 1,370 of the illegals who were released in sanctuary cities have been arrested for committing another crime.

In 2014, 17 jurisdictions in California alone released more than 5,000 criminal aliens like Francisco Sanchez, Steinle’s murder.
