A contributor to a left-wing online show who sparked outrage for crudely mocking Rep. Dan Crenshaw for war wounds sustained as a Navy SEAL in Afghanistan issued a statement that shifted blame to President Trump and former President Ronald Reagan.
Hasan Piker, who works for his uncle Cenk Uygur’s liberal YouTube show, scoffed at Crenshaw’s missing eye during his commentary on the Texas congressman’s recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience. “Didn’t he go to war and like literally lose his eye because some mujahideen — a brave f–king soldier — f–ked his eye hole with their d–k? Isn’t that how he f–king lost his dumbass eye, because he got his f–king eye hole f–ked, by a brave soldier?” he said.
Piker also said that the U.S. deserved the 9/11 terrorist attacks because of its “foreign policy decisions.”
Responding to Piker’s comments, Crenshaw condemned YouTube and Google for profiting and promoting The Young Turks, to which Piker responded by tweeting, “if you have a problem supporting terrorists and those who fund terrorists, why did you vote against stopping our arms sales to saudi arabia 4 times? those weapons are now literally in the hands of al qaeda.” Piker then claimed the viral video of his remarks was deceptively edited.
“obv i don’t support terrorism,” Piker went on, “after all i’m critcizing the american govt for supporting terrorism both leading up to, and post 911. i realize i used imprecise language that easily got weaponized by the right but spare me your moral grandstanding.”

Piker then went on to justify his “brave mujaheddin” joke by pointing the finger at Reagan for having armed them in the Soviet-Afghan War, which lasted from 1979 to 1989. “how many identical foreign policy ‘blunders’ will it take for us to stop repeating the same mistakes?” Piker admonished.

Piker then fired a parting shot by condemning what he characterized as the hypocrisy of Trump supporters offended by his comments, writing, “it’s also quite ironic that right wingers voted for a guy who literally said ‘i like heroes who weren’t captured’ about john mccain- but they’re now losing their minds cus i got mad that dan crenshaw wants to keep sending young men and women overseas to die for nothing but profit”.
