A trial date has been set for a former Montgomery County teacher acquitted last month of assaulting her first-grade students on child abuse charges that were separated from her first trial. Susan L. Burke was acquitted of 10 counts of second-degree assault.
The former Greencastle Elementary School teacher was also charged with two counts of second-degree child abuse, but those were separated from the assault charges. She has been scheduled to stand trial for the abuse cases on April 16, according to court records.
Prosecutors argued that she choked, kicked and punched her students. At Burke’s trial, she testified that she never touched them inappropriately.
