Poor Chicago Cubs fans. The Chicago Cubs are the most hapless franchise in baseball, and now they’ve been turned into a campaign punchline by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.
Pelosi whacked the Cubs after a New York Times report that a superPAC funded by Joe Ricketts is planning to attack President Obama.

“This is all going to be funded by the owner of the Chicago Cubs [Ricketts]; well, I hope it’s as successful as the Chicago Cubs,” Pelosi told reporters today.
As the reporters laughed, Pelosi added, “They ain’t got no chance of going to the World Series, and hopefully, just by exposing this it will…some people said to me ‘I’m changing from being a Cubs fan after hearing that.'”
If Pelosi’s anecdote is correct, Ricketts wouldn’t be the first Romney supporter to lose customers after Democrats emphasized their political leanings. President Obama’s campaign has assembled an “enemies list,” according to the Wall Street Journal’s Kim Strassel, of Romney donors who have been attacked on the campaign website. Strassel reports that private investigators have taken to researching personal issues, such as the divorces of these Romney donors, since Obama’s team highlighted their support for Romney.
