TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Police say a man is being treated at a hospital after being shot during a confrontation with an officer in Tallahassee.
The shooting happened early Thursday morning when the officer attempted to talk to the man. According to police, the officer saw the man walk out of a wooded area. When the officer tried to talk to the man, he fled into a nearby yard.
Police say the man turned and fired a gun at the officer, who returned fire. The man was injured but continued to flee until officers caught up and took him into custody.
The man was taken to a hospital.
The officer was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation, which is the department’s policy when a shooting is involved.
