Five tips for working women from Kellyanne Conway

In a Wednesday morning interview with the Washington Examiner’s Salena Zito, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway took the time to dispense wisdom for women seeking to succeed in the working world. Per usual, Conway, the first female to head a winning presidential campaign, packaged some of her most powerful advice in the characteristically pithy one-liners that have become commonplace in her quick-witted rhetoric.

Five of those signature Conwayisms, proffered during the first Women’s History Month of President Trump’s administration, are excerpted below.

1. “Learn to listen to the word ‘no’ more than you say it.”

Conway implored women to stay humble and be willing to absorb feedback, even, and especially, when it’s negative.

2. “Opportunity does not necessarily knock twice.”

Conway, who owned a successful business for decades before serving in the White House, spoke from experience to explain the importance of women seizing opportunities as they present themselves.

3. “I’ve learned much more from my failures than my successes.”

The influential White House advisor emphasized her recommendation that women pay close attention to their mistakes in order to grow professionally.

4. “I think women can do it all, just maybe not all at the same time.”

A longtime critic of feminism, Conway still acknowledged the unique challenges women face as working wives and mothers, but maintained an optimistic outlook on women’s ability to work their way to the top. After all, she’s a mother of four herself.

5. “Nobody can make you feel badly without your permission.”

This line, of course, is not original to Conway. But after months of enduring sexist attacks from Saturday Night Live, Democratic congressmen, and so many other sources, Conway understands its power better than most.
