Las Vegas Police confirmed three victims died in a shooting at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on Wednesday. The suspect was also found dead.
Las Vegas Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill said there was no further threat to the campus, and no motive for the shooter had been identified yet.

CNN reported the suspect was a 67-year-old career college professor. The suspect reportedly had connections to schools in Georgia and North Carolina, but it is unknown what connection the suspect had to the University of Nevada.

Officers were evacuating buildings one at a time, according to a post on X, formerly Twitter, from UNLV.
Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas initiated a ground stop on Wednesday due to the proximity of the airport runways to the shooting site and because of the police response to the shooting, which included helicopters, an official briefed on the incident told ABC News.
City police said earlier that they were responding to “preliminary reports” of an active shooter on the university campus near Beam Hall. A campus alert said university police were responding to a “confirmed active shooter” in Beam Hall at 11:54 a.m. local time. At 12:26 p.m., university officials said police were responding to additional reports that shots were fired in the student union, which is near Beam Hall.
People were asked to avoid the area, as there was police activity from Maryland Parkway at University Ave to Tropicana Ave. Videos captured by KSNV 3 News Las Vegas showed police officers on top of buildings.
Las Vegas police said in a post to X that officers had the suspect contained and there continued to be an active investigation at 12:31 p.m. local time. A follow-up post at 12:37 p.m. said that the suspect “has been located and is deceased.”

Beam Hall houses the university’s Lee Business School and includes food service kitchens and laboratories, computer labs, and classrooms, according to the website.
The student union is located one building over from Beam Hall.

“Tragic and heartbreaking news coming out of [UNLV],” Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman said in a post to X. “Praying for everyone on campus as law enforcement responds to the situation.”
All Nevada State Higher Education institutions closed for the remainder of the day, according to a post from UNLV.
