Fullerton Democrat Joe Bartenfelder was named Baltimore County Council’s new chairman Monday night.
Bartenfelder, who represents the county’s 6th District, was first elected to the council in 1994, serving as chairman previously in 1997, 2000 and 2005. He replaces Pikesville Democrat Kevin Kamenetz, whose one-year term has expired.

Bartenfelder, Kamenetz, Catonsville Democrat Sam Moxley and Dundalk Democrat John Olszewski Sr. have traditionally used their combined votes to rotate the position among them.
