UNC on lockdown after school reports armed and dangerous person on campus


The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, issued an alert of an armed and dangerous person on or near the campus Monday afternoon.

University police released a photo of a person of interest in the active assailant situation. No name was provided.

“If you see this person, keep your distance, put your safety first and call 911,” the police alert read.


The university issued an Alert Carolina at 1:03 p.m., asking people to shelter in place. The order was lifted at around 4:15 p.m. All classes and events have been canceled for the rest of the day.
