This is unexpected, yet still somehow adorable.
Us Weekly is reporting that Michelle Williams and her longtime friend Jason Segel are dating.
“They are smitten and very serious,” the Us source said.
The “My Week With Marilyn” actress and the “How I Met Your Mother” actor are said to have been friends for years through their mutual friend, Busy Philipps (who co-starred with Jason on “Freaks and Geeks”).
The new couple were spotted taking a walk in Brooklyn earlier this week. “He put his arm around her and made her laugh as they walked,” a witness told Us. “[They] seemed very relaxed.”
The pair were spotted dining out together in February in L.A. and in March in West Hollywood.
The two stars live on opposite coasts, with Michelle being based in Brooklyn and Jason living in L.A., but a source says they’re trying to make it work.
“She hasn’t been this happy in a long time.”
Michelle was in a long-term relationship with Heath Ledger, whom she met while filming “Brokeback Mountain.” The pair split a few months before Heath’s 2008 death.

ABCNews.com is saying the blue-haired beauty was spotted with French model Baptiste Giabiconi several times as of late.
The singer, 27, even tweeted a photo of herself getting cozy with the 22-year-old.
“It’s new, they’re feeling it out, but they’re spending a lot of time together,” Baptiste’s rep told the New York Post. “He’s considering moving to L.A., at least for some time.”
The pair were first spotted together sitting in the front row of the Chanel show during Paris Fashion Week earlier this year.
ABC says that more than a year ago, Baptiste said of Katy in an interview: “If I could make her divorce her husband, I’d marry her.”
Katy split from Russell in late December when he filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. Their divorce won’t be final until this summer, but he appears to have also moved on. The comedian has been rumored to be dating Hungarian model Nikolett Barabas.
