Huntington cancer center names director

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — The new director of a Huntington cancer center also has been named as vice dean of Marshall University’s medical school.

Dr. Uma Sundaram was tapped as director of the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center at Cabell Huntington Hospital on Thursday afternoon.

The center includes specialists in radiation oncology, surgical oncology, medical oncology and hematology, orthopedic oncology, pediatric oncology, surgical breast oncology, clinical trials and research.

In addition to his role as director, he was named vice dean for clinical and transitional sciences at the Huntington school.

Sundaram most recently served as director of the West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute and assistant vice president of the West Virginia University Health Sciences Center.

He also was a professor of medicine, microbiology, immunology and cell biology at West Virginia University’s medical school.
