Chris Hughes, a Facebook co-founder and publisher of the left-leaning New Republic magazine, will host a fundraiser for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, according to the New York Times.
Citing “two people briefed on the invitation,” the Times reported Tuesday that the fundraiser will be held June 30th at the home of Hughes and his husband Sean Eldridge.
Both Hughes and Eldridge have roots in Democratic politics. Hughes is a supporter of President Obama and was involved in his 2008 presidential campaign. Eldridge unsuccessfully ran for Congress as a Democrat in 2014.
Under Hughes’ ownership, the New Republic faced several setbacks at the end of 2014 and into early 2015, most notably a mass exodus of staff in December.
