HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) — Police have arrested a New York man they say fatally struck a teenager in the neck with a machete during an argument.

Newsday reports (http://nwsdy.li/1sAHvC4 ) that David Sadler pleaded not guilty Saturday on a second degree-murder charge in the death of 17-year-old Terrance Grier.

The newspaper says he told reporters before arraignment he bought the machete online and that witnesses saw what happened.

Police say they were called to a Hempstead home Friday evening after Sadler got into an argument with Grier and struck him with the machete.

That’s when they say he fled the scene. Police say they quickly found and arrested him.

It wasn’t clear what the argument was about.

The 17-year-old was taken by ambulance to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
