Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to hold an emergency security meeting in the city. Tel Aviv authorities announced the city would open its public shelter following the rocket fire, although the Israel Police said it wouldn’t be taking any special measures until the government instructs it to do so.
Thursday’s incident comes during heightened tensions in the region. A projectile was fired at Israel Saturday night, with the Israeli military following up with airstrikes in the Gaza Strip.
