A hailstorm in Colorado on Wednesday night injured nearly 100 concertgoers at the famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre near Denver, and a day later, hail the size of baseballs struck the same area.
The baseball-sized hail, which fell into the late afternoon in and around Morrison, Colorado, could “severely injure people and animals outdoors,” the National Weather Service said Thursday, per Denver7 News.

The National Weather Service said “destructive” baseball-sized hail that could “severely injure people and animals outdoors” is possible for parts of the metro until 3:45 p.m.

It was late Wednesday night when the National Weather Service in Boulder, Colorado, tweeted a warning that “golf ball-sized hail” was near Red Rocks. Concertgoers in attendance for the Louis Tomlinson show were shocked to be pelted with enormous hail that led to broken bones and cuts. The concert was postponed.
The West Metro Fire Rescue said that night that seven people were brought to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and 80 to 90 others were treated on the scene. Some in attendance said they were almost trampled, with one woman telling CNN she managed to hide and used her backpack to protect herself and another girl.

One concertgoer shared an unsettling video on Twitter of the heavy hail falling from the sky at Red Rocks. Screams of pain could be heard, along with someone shrieking, “Oh, my God,” as people ran for safety.
The Twitter user, who goes by Nicole, said she and her sister managed to find shelter under a sign but that she was left with “huge bumps” on her head, as well as bruises. “Tonight was the scariest night of my life,” she wrote.

The frantic fleeing for shelter led some in attendance to become lost and lose sight of their friends. In addition to the hail, the storms on Wednesday and Thursday included high winds up to 50 mph, heavy rains, and even a tornado in the Denver suburb of Lone Tree, according to the Associated Press.

The weather is expected to calm down in the Denver area on Friday into the weekend and next week. The National Weather Service said there is a chance for scattered thunderstorms Friday afternoon, with a few severe storms possible in and around Morrison, but less severe than the previous days.
