Trump poses with Hope Hicks before her last day at White House

President Trump posed for pictures with outgoing communications director Hope Hicks on Thursday as he prepared to leave the White House for a trip to Ohio and then Florida that will take him out of Washington for the rest of Hicks’ last day on the job.

Hicks, who has worked with the Trump family for years, announced her resignation late last month. Her departure has set off a scramble in the West Wing among aides vying to replace her at the helm of the press shop.

Trump and Hicks exited the Oval Office together on Wednesday and waved to the reporters waiting for Trump to walk to Marine One, the presidential helicopter.

Hicks is said to be one of Trump’s favorite and most trusted aides, and her proximity to the president made her a powerful player during her year in the administration.

Hicks’ last day is Thursday.
