Angela Merkel has third public shaking spell within a month

German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s body trembled during a military honors ceremony in Berlin on Wednesday.

It’s the third time she has been seen in public physically shaking in the last month, fueling speculation about her health.

The 64-year-old, who is stepping down in 2021, was standing next to Finland’s Prime Minister Antti Rinne during the involuntary shaking episode.

“I am doing fine and you should not worry,” she said in a news conference after the meeting, blaming the episode on psychologically “processing” the first time it happened.

“This appears not to be quite finished yet, but I am making progress and will have to live with it for a while,” she said.

The chancellor was first noticed shaking last month during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. That episode was blamed on dehydration and Merkel said she felt better after drinking water.

It happened again a week later during a meeting with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Her spokesman said Merkel “is well” after that episode and she later traveled to the G-20 summit in Japan.
