GOP: Trump’s booming economy to thank for record-high February fundraising haul

The Republican National Committee reported its highest-ever fundraising numbers for the month of February in a non-presidential election year, according to new data obtained by the Washington Examiner.

The GOP organization took in $12.8 million last month, making it the best February ever for a midterm or off-year.

“Thanks to the unwavering support of President Trump’s pro-growth agenda, the RNC continues to work with President Trump and Congressional Republicans ahead of the 2018 midterm elections,” RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said in a statement. “The RNC’s ongoing investments in a permanent ground game and data operation will help our Party win elections and keep Republican majorities as President Trump fulfills promises made to the American people.”

The RNC said it has more than four times the amount of cash on hand, $42.4 million, as it heads into the 2018 November midterms than it did during the 2014 midterms ($10 million).

A portion of that money is going toward growing its field operations. Approximately 170 permanent field staffers have been hired in 25 states and another 200 are expected to be added to payroll before the summer.
