President Trump slammed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff in a speech addressing his impeachment acquittal.
At a White House event on Thursday, Trump used the opportunity to take a victory lap and criticize those who led the impeachment effort against him. He attacked the two California Democrats by calling them “horrible” people.
“These people are vicious. Adam Schiff is a vicious, horrible person. Nancy Pelosi is a horrible person. And she wanted to impeach a long time ago,” Trump said.
Pelosi oversaw the House’s impeachment of Trump late last year on two Ukraine-related charges. Schiff was the lead impeachment manager during the Senate trial, which ended in acquittal on Wednesday.
Trump also addressed comments Pelosi made on Thursday after the National Prayer Breakfast, where she said that she prayed for Trump.
“When she said, ‘I pray for the president, I pray for the president,’ she doesn’t pray. She may pray, but she prays for the opposite,” Trump said.
Pelosi said at the event that the president knows “little” about prayer and faith.
