Texas Republican Rep. Lance Gooden explains that Kentucky Republican Rep. Thomas Massie’s grandstanding of the $2 trillion rescue package created a rare moment of bipartisanship between President Trump and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

In an effort to provide immediate economic relief during the coronavirus pandemic, Congress passed the $2 trillion stimulus bill on Friday, funding all different areas of the U.S. economy, from small businesses to large corporations to individuals out of work because of the virus. Massie appeared to be the only member of Congress who vocalized his objection to the bill and demanded that the House go through the process of a recorded vote as opposed to a voice vote.

It took all of 43 seconds for Massie to be shut down and for the bill to be passed to send to Trump’s desk to be signed into law.

Gooden said that Massie’s grandstanding was “frustrating” and that he agreed with the president on his position opposing Massie.
