Trump: Buy only what you need, stores will stay open

President Trump called on people in the United States to buy only what they need during the coronavirus crisis and promised that stores would stay open.

“We’re trying to get people to actually buy less, if that’s possible,” he said. “Buy less.”

The call comes amid fears that panic buying will strip shelves of essential goods.

Trump spoke during a regular briefing by his Coronavirus Task Force in the White House briefing room.

“Don’t take everything. Just buy what you need,” he said, saying that stores will be staying open.
