DECISION TODAY ON IRAN: The world will be watching the White House at 2 p.m. when President Trump steps before the cameras in the Diplomatic Room to announce his decision on the Iran nuclear deal. His announcement comes after months of international anxiety and speculation on the future of the Obama administration agreement. Supporters say it has delayed Iran’s development of nuclear weapons, but critics say it gives Tehran free rein to develop ballistic missiles and fund terrorism. The president has called the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action “insane” and a “disaster” and all indications point to him taking steps to withdraw the U.S. from the agreement. That would likely mean he refuses on Saturday to waive banking and energy sector sanctions on Tehran that were lifted in exchange for its agreement to curb its nuclear program. “It’s pretty obvious to me that unless something changes in the next few days, I believe the president will not waive the sanctions,” a European diplomat told reporters Tuesday.
