James Bond actress says she tested positive for coronavirus

Actress Olga Kurylenko took to social media to say she tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

Kurylenko starred as Camille Montes alongside Daniel Craig in the James Bond movie franchise’s 2008 installment Quantum of Solace. She made the announcement on Sunday over Instagram.

“Locked up at home after having tested positive for Coronavirus,” Kurylenko said. “I’ve actually been ill for almost a week now. Fever and fatigue are my main symptoms. Take care of yourself and do take this seriously!”

The Ukrainian-born actress also shared the message in her native tongue. She is not the first Hollywood celebrity to reveal a coronavirus diagnosis. Last week, Tom Hanks said he and his wife Rita Wilson tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

“We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too,” the acclaimed actor said in a statement. “We were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.”

There have been at least 3,774 cases and 69 deaths in the United States since the coronavirus pandemic began. That number balloons to almost 170,000 worldwide and at least 6,500 deaths.

Countries around the world have reacted by implementing rigid response plans. The U.S. has instituted restrictions on travelers from other countries, and some states have started closing restaurants and schools. President Trump declared a national emergency on Friday.

The Federal Reserve lowered its interest rate target to zero on Sunday, in an effort to insulate the economy from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
