D.C. Council takes on pressing issue of swear words

The D.C. Council spent Tuesday debating a bill to eliminate swearing from council meetings. Yeas & Nays applauds the council’s commitment to decorum, but suggests that other council activity might have warranted legislation before swear words. A few other behaviors the chairman might consider eliminating:

  • Stealing money from children (See Thomas, Harry Jr.)
  • Leasing multiple luxury vehicles on the taxpayer’s dime (See Brown, Kwame)
  • Blaming kerfuffle over luxury vehicle leases on your kids (See Brown, Kwame)
  • Employing aides who accept bribes (See Graham, Jim)
  • (Allegedly) Paying people to attack your political opponents, then rewarding them with cushy city jobs (See Gray, Vince)
  • Smoking crack (See Barry, Marion)
