President Trump warned Iran it had made a grave miscalculation in shooting down a Navy drone flying over the Strait of Hormuz Thursday.

“Iran made a very big mistake!” Trump tweeted Thursday morning.

U.S. Central Command confirmed the $130 million aircraft was shot out of the sky by Iranian forces in the latest show of force from a nation the Trump administration has sanctioned and been aggressive in denouncing.

“Iranian reports that the aircraft was over Iran are false. This was an unprovoked attack on a U.S. surveillance asset in international airspace,” the military said.

Last week, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the Iranians were behind an attack on two oil tankers traveling through the Gulf of Oman — an attempt to upset international oil prices in retaliation to western pressure put on the middle eastern country.
