Bill Clinton wouldn’t have defended himself on Twitter during the Lewinsky scandal: Joe Lockhart

President Clinton probably wouldn’t have used Twitter if it existed to defend himself during the Monica Lewinsky scandal the way Trump does against his accusers, according to his former press secretary Joe Lockhart.

When asked on CNN if he believes Clinton would have taken up his own advocacy on Twitter if it had existed at the time, Lockhart said, “I don’t think so.”

He also said the team’s strategy was to focus on everything else other than the Lewinsky scandal, including fulfilling campaign promises to the American people.

Lockhart said there are major differences between Clinton’s White House and Trump’s.

“There’s some critical differences, one is the technology. We didn’t have Twitter, thank God,” Lockhart said. “And we had a president, I think, who understood from a political strategy point of view, engaging in the back and forth on an investigation wasn’t in his interest. So very, very different.”
