The Fourth of July celebration in the nation’s capital is coming back with a bang.
“I think it’s safe to say without much exaggeration that this is going to be the largest fireworks show D.C. has ever seen,” National Park Service spokesman Mike Litterst said.
Litterst said the fireworks show will be longer than 35 minutes because two fireworks companies made donations worth nearly one million dollars.
The annual event will be different than past years because President Trump is planning a “Salute to America” event at the Lincoln Memorial. Trump will give a speech and there will be military demonstrations and flyovers.
The usual concert at the Capitol is still planned for the holiday.
Trump’s portion of the day is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., with gates opening at 3 p.m. The concert begins at 8 p.m. and fireworks start at 9:06 p.m.
