Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar went back to the hospital on Wednesday for continued complications with a digestive infection.
Azar was admitted to St. Vincent hospital in Indianapolis on Sunday night. He was discharged from the hospital on Monday. However, his doctor recommended that Azar return for additional treatment and observation, an HHS spokesperson said on Wednesday.
Azar has been in regular contact with leadership at HHS and the White House and Congress and he “remains fully engaged with the responsibilities of his job,” the spokesperson said.
The illness did prompt Azar to postpone a budget hearing Tuesday.
