Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., encouraged people to vote out Democrats on Election Day because “you can’t fix stupid.”
“You can’t fix stupid, but you can vote it out, and we’ll see them at the next election,” Kennedy said on the Brian Kilmeade Show.
He said that as part of a discussion about how Democrats tried to smear Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh by saying he was a serial sexual assaulter. Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee said there was “no evidence” to back those claims.
The committee also referred one of the women making claims against Kavanaugh to the FBI for further investigation after finding evidence that she lied.
Some Democrats have said they would try to impeach Kavanaugh if they take over Congress, to which Kennedy said, “There is nothing I can do to stop them.”
Kennedy said the polls just before Election Day were saying Republicans would likely keep the Senate, and could lose the House to Democrats, but he cast doubt on these readings and said it seemed possible the GOP would also keep the House.
