Conservative radio host Mark Levin said President Trump did what his predecessor, President Barack Obama, could not find it in himself to do: fire FBI boss James Comey.
“The president of the United States did exactly the right thing. He did what Barack Obama didn’t have the courage to do – remove an FBI director that didn’t have the temperament to be an FBI director,” Levin told Fox News host Sean Hannity Wednesday evening.
Levin defended Trump’s decision to take swift action and remove Comey, citing Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s recommendation as a nonpartisan attorney.
“[A] deputy attorney general. who won 94-6 in his nomination. You want to know why? The guy doesn’t have a political bone in his body. He has worked for Bill Clinton, George Bush. He is a career public integrity prosecutor. A criminal prosecutor. He has been a U.S. attorney.
“The two big left-wing senators from Maryland went to his confirmation hearing, introduced him and urged the committee to support him for deputy attorney general,” Levin said.
White House deputy press secretary Sarah Sanders said Tuesday evening that Hillary Clinton would have fired FBI Director James Comey if she was president.
“If Hillary Clinton had won, which thank God she didn’t, but if she had, Director Comey would have been fired immediately and the same Democrats that are criticizing President Trump’s decision today would be dancing in the streets,” Sanders told Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
